doTERRA Essential Oils
Healing, sleeping and cooking
When I was introduced to doTERRA essential oils I was sceptical. My perception was based on my lack of knowledge and how I associated oils to patchouli, granola eating hippies and psychedelic acid trips (good thing I’m not dramatic). However with persistence, my sister recommended a few staples such as peppermint, lavender and lemon. She is a strong advocate of essential oils and quickly adopted the holistic changes such as replacing her medicine cabinet to tackle ailments for her family.
Once she talked me through the various oils I was on board immediately. She shared her own experiences and how she used the oils on her children, husband and herself and how their quality of life dramatically improved. I purchased the introductory trio pack (peppermint, lavender and lemon) and haven’t looked back.
I use peppermint essential oil to boost my energy before I go running because yes, I am extremely lazy but I must exercise! It also alleviates tummy aches and promotes healthy respiratory system so it’s a win, win. Because the essential oil is 100% pure, it works immediately and I’m ready to rock and roll. Same principle for tummy aches whether it’s for yourself, your baby, toddlers, husband, grannies etc. Rub a few drops of peppermint (with a bit of coconut oil) onto your baby or toddler’s tummy and let the aches disappear.
Lavender essential oil (which is harvested from South of France) is used for calming and relaxing qualities along with occasional skin irritations and ease muscle tension. And the smell !! Oh how I love this essential oil. I put a few drops into my diffuser, place it in my bedroom and POOF…. I’m out for the count just like Sleeping Beauty!
Using a diffuser allows the oils to spread throughout the air in your home so you’re constantly surrounded by the fragrance. However, if diffusing isn’t your thing you can simply stick to ingesting or rubbing onto your pressure points (feet, wrists or back of neck). You’ll receive the same results.
I am obsessed with the lemon essential oil for cleansing and purifying. It naturally cleanses the body, helps digestion, promotes a positive mood and cognitive ability (I put several drops in my water throughout the day). I also use this trio at home and combine in my diffuser. My home is quickly transformed into a spa like sanctuary with the fragrances circulating every room. #bliss #clearskin #cantstoppeeing
Peppermint, lavender and lemon rubbed together (on your feet, chest or wrists) acts as a natural antihistamine. If you struggle with allergies (sneezing fits and watery eyes hang on like grim death), then this combination of essential oils is your saving grace. Plus, I like the idea I’m not reliant on pharmaceutical products or medically altered drugs to alleviate my hay-fever.
For those with a culinary flare or an aptitude for baking, this trio essential kit has you covered. Remembering that ALL doTERRA oils are 100% pure and for ingesting. You can use the lavender, lemon and peppermint in your cooking dishes, baked goods or beverages! [Cocktails immediately come to mind]. Replace any lemon zest / lemon juice with the lemon essential oil for a dense pound cake or for a lemon martini (Don’t worry, James Bond won’t judge). Mix a few drops of lavender essential oil with cayenne or paprika herbs to help elevate smoky, caramelized notes for your meats. Replace chewing gum/mints with peppermint essential oils (1-2 drops on your tongue) to remove bad breath and within a few seconds, you’ll be smooching your partner in no time! #bond #lemonmartinis
The idea of using holistic, natural products to promote and elevate my overall well-being, relieve hay-fever attacks or to simply use for culinary purposes was the right choice for me. If anyone is interested in learning more about essential oils and is sceptical of taking the plunge, then I would highly recommend this trio pack. There's a reason why spas around the world use essential oils ;) #doterra #essentialoils #aromatherapy
